Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) presented a cheque of Rs 10 million to the Prime Minster Shaukat Aziz for rains and tsunami victims. Five million of the donations will go each to tsunami and rains victims. A delegation of Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry comprising President Mian Misbahur Rehaman, former president Iftikhar Ali Malik, Mian Mohammad Asif, Aftab Mughal, Qaiser Shaikh and other members of the managing committee presented the cheque of donation to the Prime Minister here at the Prime Minister Secretariat.

Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz appreciated the role of LCCI for giving generous donation for tsunami and rains affected people and hoped that other chambers and traders bodies would also come forward to financially help the rains affected people of Balochistan and NWFP.

LCCI is the first traders and industrialists' body to generously help tsunami and rains affected people.

A large number of people in Balochistan and NWFP have been badly effected by the rains. The government is extending all out help to the victims and work for their repatriation is in progress in many affected parts of the country.

The Prime Minister said that the government was utilising all available resources to rains and tsunami affected people but they need much more to restart their normal life.

He said that the people of Pakistan particularly those who have resources to share with calamity hit people should come forward and give donation to financially help the victims.

Iftikhar Ali Malik also appealed to the traders and industrialists organisation to come forward and extend their maximum financial help to the rains and tsunami affected people. He said that Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry would take more such initiatives to help calamity hit people of NWFP and Balochistan, besides tsunami-hit people. He added that it was religious, social and moral obligation of all those people who have resources to help their brethren in the hour of trial.
